Arsene Wenger described the reason why youngster Alex Iwobi has chosen Nigeria over England to play in the senior level.
Iwobi has been instrumental for Nigeria in recent past as his goal saw Nigeria through to a place in the World Cup in Russia next year, and he also scored a brace in the African side’s friendly triumph over Argentina.

Arsene Wenger spoke to Arsenal’s official website and revealed the reason the promising talent has rather chosen his place of birth instead of the Three Lions.
“He had the potential to play for England and for Nigeria,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.
“Today he looks very happy with Nigeria. When I speak to him, he’s had very positive experiences.”
Wenger also added that the winger adds quality to the Super Eagles side and he is creative going forward and another positive thing is that he has started to score regular goals for his country.
But Wenger also made it clear that England have missed out on him at the time they should have tapped him to play for England.
“Unfortunately, he is injured now, but I have to say Santi Cazorla,” said Iwobi, when asked by Soccerladuma who is the club’s most skillful player.

“When I first entered the team, I was baffled that he is so good with his left foot and right foot.”
He added that based on Cazorla’s quality, it is the former Malaga man who is the best player he has played with so far.
