Arsenal win at Emirates over Spurs for the first time since 2013
Setting the Scene:
Arsenal had some injury scares as Giroud and Walcott was missing through injury and illness respectively, but Shkodran Mustafi got a clearance after a late fitness test to play, so was Welbeck but the latter started on the bench.
Spurs also fielded two of their doubted players Harry Kane and Dele Alli. Hugo Lloris was back in goal for Pochettino’s side as they looked to prolong Arsenal’s winless record against Spurs in the league.
Arsenal were in the front foot from the start as they created more clearer chances in the early part of the game. Spurs were close through Kane but Cech had it under control from the Englishman’s shot. Mustafi headed the ball home from a Mesut Ozil free kick to give the home side a huge lead, and five minutes later Alexandre Lacazette found Sanchez in the box, who controlled the ball with his left foot and finished it with his right in the back of the net.
Mustafi opened the scoring for Arsenal
After the break, the hosts were the better side though Spurs had a lot of ball. Kane and Alli both looked seemingly unfit, but the former had a chance in the box but his shot was superbly blocked by the returning Mustafi. Arsenal themselves hit on the break for some times and Sanchez made Lloris work on two occasions to limit any further damage. Eric Dier on the other side produced a superb save from Cech and substitute Son put his shots wide on one occasion.
The shift of balance speculations has been diminished by a clinical Arsenal and now they will hope that this win will revolutionize their season as they eye to push for a decent outing in the season.
