Arsenal are in talks to sign Chelsea midfielder Charly Musonda who is also opting to move away from Stamford Bridge, according to various sources. The Gunners are ready to make a move for the Belgian and land him at Emirates this January.
Charly Musonda hasn’t got enough chances under Conte this season despite being fully fit, and that has frustrated the Belgian midfielder, as he has decided to leave Chelsea this winter, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.
Musonda’s contract with the Blues run till June 2019 but he has decided not to extend any deal with them, and that has prompted Arsenal to talk with him for a potential switch. The 21 year old scored his first professional goal for Chelsea in a Carabao Cup tie against Nottingham in September, but since then hasn’t featured in many games for the Blues. He has played a total of 26 minutes in the league and the player feels he should play more.
The Belgian jewel has a bright future ahead and even Chelsea boss admitted that earlier after Musonda revealed in an Instagram post about his unhappiness due to lack of minutes on the pitch.
Conte promised that he will get more chances
“I spoke with him and I think Charly understood his mistake,” said the Chelsea manager.
“Honestly, I think he has to continue to work very hard to improve himself on the physical aspect and on the tactical aspect, but he is working very well.”
Musonda to Arsenal?
” He’s a talented player. He really has a good chance of becoming a major player in Chelsea, I’m sure. This season, he may have opportunities to play because we only have three numbers 10 for two places. He could show that he deserves to play,” the Italian manager added.
Musonda in his Real Betis days
But things haven’t changed for Musonda and he is now ready to seek his pastures new and most probably Chelsea’s rivals Arsenal will be his destination. Arsene Wenger’s knack of giving youth players opportunities will be another factor that may lure the Belgian at the Emirates, who spent last two seasons on loan with La Liga side Real Betis.
