Manchester United could include youngster Axel Tuanzebe and injury-ridden defender Luke Shaw in their upcoming midweek Champions League match against Benfica at the Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have won each of their matches in the European rivalry till now and will have the Portuguese Champions in a match where a win could seal their chance into the following round.
What’s more, as indicated by an insight from United’s reserve team captain Joey Riley, some of the youngsters from the u23 side could be called into the first team squad against Benfica.
Two prominent players were omitted from the Under-23 arrange against Sunderland on Sunday evening, in which United won 1-0 because of a Demetri Mitchell goal and it is trusted that those two are Luke Shaw and Tuanzebe who could make into the senior squad of Champions League match.
Both the players were discarded from United reserve team’s last match of the end of the week and last time Tuanzebe and Shaw were omitted from a U23 match, they were added to the senior group.
Tuanzebe played an entire match at the Liberty Stadium against Swansea in the Carabo cup match whereas Luke Shaw showed up in the match for the last 6 minutes.
The United reserve team’s Captain Riley expressing about before-mentioned probability said: “Obviously we’ve got the game on Tuesday night and a few of the lads are playing in that.
“So some of the younger lads came in and did well.”
Jose Mourinho’s side edged the Portuguese champions 1-0 in their last match at Benfica away and are as of now driving the table with nine points in the Champions league group where Benfica have lost all the three matches.
United are also three points clear of second place Basel and six above CSKA Moscow in third and a win for the English side and CSKA Moscow failing to win in Basel would without a doubt secure their participation to the knockout stages with two games in hand.
