Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka conceded that the club has shown character after their recent run of victories even after trailing in the game. The Swiss midfielder has hailed his team’s fighting spirit and cleverly countered Troy Deeney’s comments.
Arsenal have won their past three games all after conceding the first goal in the matches. In the Premeir League, they conceded first against Everton and Swansea, while in the midweek also they came back from behind against Norwich in the Carabao Cup.
And Xhaka stated that shows their mental integrity and character.
“It’s the third time in a week that the team have come from behind to win, that says a lot about this team,” Xhaka said after the comeback victory over Swansea.
“Lots of people talk about the character of our team, that it’s not right and that we need to do more. But we always show that we can come back,” it was quite no brainer to predict to whom these words were aimed at after Watford’s Troy Deeney’s comments on lack of cojones of Arsenal after their loss against the Hornets a couple of weeks ago.
Xhaka exampled the last two games and said that manager Arsene Wenger said them to play more quicker and they did exactly that after half time and turned the table around. The former Basel player also admits that Swansea were a tough nut to crack as they were defensively very organized, but Arsenal played in their own style in the second half and got the win which was very important.
Xhaka with his lady in the FIFA awards
Xhaka was also present in the recently held FIFA awards and Arsenal fans there demanded him to convince both Alexis and Ozil to stay at Arsenal beyond this season. It has to see how he tackles those demands as the Arsenal duo nears exit.
