According to several transfer rumors, it has been claimed that Premier League club Liverpool FC are weighing in on the former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
It has been reported that Liverpool will be trying to bid for the player in the upcoming January transfer window, as Casillas struggles to find a place in FC Porto’s starting lineup.
The 36-year-old Spanish legend has been left on the bench for Porto and is struggling to break into the starting lineup; as 24-year-old Jose Sa has taken over the goalkeeping position from the former Real Madrid captain.
Casillas took it to the social media as he posted on his official Instagram account that he is disappointed after being left out of Porto’s recent UEFA Champions League match against German outlet RB Leipzig.
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp will be looking to capitalize on the situation and might consider signing the Real Madrid icon. Klopp has been rotating his squad among Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius, but, however, both the Liverpool keepers have struggled throughout the season.
Both Karius and Mignolet have failed to impress Klopp since his arrival from German giants Borussia Dortmund. Both the goalkeepers have been way too inconsistent in between the sticks for The Reds.
Klopp’s men have conceded a total of 15 goals away from home in the Premier League so far, which is the worst record in the division so far.
On the other hand, it seems like Casillas is apparently being punished for using a mobile phone in Porto training. However, Porto boss Sergio Conceicao has insisted that the Porto goalkeeper is being left out of the side due to tactical reasons.
Casillas is one of the biggest goalkeepers to ever step foot in the game. He has been capped 167 times by the Spanish National side and has led La Roja to World Cup glory in 2010. He signed for Porto in the summer of 2015 after playing for almost 17 years in Real Madrid colors.
Along with Liverpool FC, Newcastle United also seems to be interested in Casillas. Despite Rob Elliot performing well for the club so far, Rafael Benitez’s men have also been linked with the Porto goalkeeper.
