The Beforemaths:

Finishing second in their Zone B, the Pirates had to overcome two Eliminators and a Qualifier to be in the final. They beat Haryana Steelers and Puneri Paltans in the eliminating fixtures and knocked down Bengal Warriors narrowly in the Qualifier 2 to book their place in the final.

Final Review:

It was a final that was anticipated as a battle between Patna raiders and Gujarat defenders. Patna captain Pardeep Narwal was the man of attraction while the Iranian duo of Gujarat Abozar Mighani and Fazel Atrachali had the task to stop him.

The game started well for the team from West as they had a five point lead after nine first half minutes to go, but soon the pendulum started to swing in Patna’s favor as their talisman Pardeep Narwal and Monu Goyat kept on raiding successfully. At half time it was 21-18 in the Pirate’s favor.

After the break, it was a see saw battle for the first ten minutes as Gujarat maintained their three point trail without any further damage. But a Pardeep Narwal super raid opened the flood gates for the reigning champions as they started imposing on the new side afterwards. It was just one way traffic since then as the Pirates inflicted a couple of more all outs and cruised along in the closing minutes of the final. In the end it was 55-38 in favor of Patna who make a hat trick of winning the PKL title.
