Revealed: Arsenal starlet claims that he loved Henry and he is a childhood Arsenal fan

Nketiah joined Arsenal from Chelsea in 2015.


Arsenal  young gun Eddie Nketiah came off the bench and scored a brilliant double to help Arsenal through to the next round of the EFL Cup. And speaking about his heroics, the Gunner starlet admitted that he is an avid Arsenal fan since his childhood days and wants to emulate Thierry Henry.

“I’m a childhood fan of the club, so for the fans to get behind me like that is a dream come true, I’m delighted and grateful,” the young striker told when he was asked about how he enjoyed fans singing his name as the Emirates reverberated with ‘Eddie’ ‘Eddie’ chant.
He also said that fans behind him was the most important for him and he thanked the fans and added that it was overwhelming when they were chanting his name and  though he had to keep focus on the pitch, it was a magnificent feeling as the 18 year old experienced like this for the very first time of his life.

“I’ve always dreamt of this as a kid and hopefully they can continue to support me and I can continue to get chances and impress them really, that’s what it’s about,” the England U19 International added.

He also thanked manager Arsene Wenger for the opportunity and said that it was a dream come true for him, especially scoring two goals and helping his team to victory.
And speaking of his Arsenal heroes, Nketiah couldn’t choose one as he grew up watching the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp but he says that he tries to emulate Thierry Henry as the French legend has made the most impact in his career.

“When he (Thierry Henry) was working with us at the club I used to work with him quite a bit on and off the field, so I’m just trying to emulate even a little bit of what they can do, that would a dream come true for me,” Nketiah revealed.
