Puneri Paltans and Patna Pirates have sealed their place for the 3rd Eliminator after wins over UP Yoddha and Haryana Steelers respectively. They will play each other on Tuesday to book a meet against the looser of Qualifier 1.
Puneri Paltan vs UP Yoddha:
Today was the first day of PKL Play offs, the first match of the night was between Paltans and Yoddhas. A Nitin Tomar led UP side struck the first blow in the crucial tie and forced a Pune all out. But the Maharashtra side bounced back in the half and got a lead thanks to their raider Deepak Hooda. Girish Ernak was also instrumental for them as he made some important tackles.
In the second half, it was a see saw battle and no side could stamp their authority or take a healthy lead. But it was Girish Ernak again who made the game changing tackle on Rishank Devadiga to give Puneri a two point lead. In the final raid of the match Mahesh Goud was also captured by Pune defense as they won the match 40-38.
Both Rishank Devadiga and Deepak Hooda got Super 10s as the former got 15 raid points, but couldn’t steer his team to a victory. Girish was best defender with 7 tackle points.
Patna Pirates vs Haryana Steelers:
In the second Eliminator, Patna Pirates decimated a hapless Haryana Steelers side as the Eastern India side won 69-30.
Patna in total had whopping 44 raid points and their talisman Pardeep Narwal scored a staggering 34 points out of them. It was a cakewalk for the Patna players after the half time break as Haryana’s defense was shocking and cynical. The Steelers only had 3 tackle points in the match despite having players like Surender Nada and Mohit Chillar.
Pirates bulldozed past the new franchise and will now meet Puneri Paltans on Tuesday.
Pardeep Narwal got 34 raid points, Monu Goyat also managed 10 raid points. For Puneri, Prashant Kumar Rai got 8 raid points and apart from him, others had nothing to show for.
