PKL Season 5: Play Offs Schedule, Who faces Whom and TV Guide

PKL play offs will be played in Mumbai and Chennai.


The Pro Kabaddi League of this year is now at it’s business end as the league format has commenced and now we wait for the Play offs. Six teams have qualified for the play offs, which will start from Monday, 23rd October.

The Contenders:

  • In Zone A, Gujarat Fortunegiants held their nerve to win the final match of the league against Puneri Paltans and the Giants have retained top spot in Zone A. Paltans on the other hand have finished 2nd in the zone while another new franchise Haryana Steelers have finished 3rd.
  • In Zone B, previously under performing Bengal Warriors have obtained the pole position. Two consecutive time and reigning champions Patna Pirates are runners up in the group while Nitin Tomar led UP Yoddha have scraped past Bengaluru Bulls to get the 3rd spot.

Based on the new rules, top spot holders Bengal Warriors and Gujarat Fortunegiants will meet in Qualifier 1 and will have another chance if they loose the first one. Other four teams will have to play out the eliminators and Qualifier 2 to reach the final.

Puneri Paltan vs UP Yoddha – 23rd October, 20.00 IST (Eliminator 1)

Patna Pirates vs Haryana Steelers – 23rd October, 21.00 IST (Eliminator 2)

Bengal Warriors vs Gujarat Fortunegiants – 24th October, 20.00 IST (Qualifier 1)

Winner of Eliminator 1 vs Winner of Eliminator 2 – 24th OCtober, 21.00 IST (Eliminator 3)

Winner of Eliminator 3 vs Looser of Qualifier 1 – 26th October, 20.00 IST (Qualifier 2)

Final – Winner of Qualifier 1 vs Winner of Qualifier 2 – 28th October, 20.00 IST

Talking Points:

Being at the top in the league, both Bengal and Gujarat have the advantage in the play offs. Reigning champions Patna Pirates will also be banking their chances to storm through the play offs, but to achieve that their defense will have to be more rigid. Pune, Haryana also have a balanced side and have the capability to beat any team on given day. So it hots up in the final week of the PKL and Indian Kabaddi lovers can be assured of some mouthwatering clashes in the next few days.
