Arsenal came away winners against Serbian side Crvena Zvezda in the Europa League on Thursday thanks to a sublime goal by Olivier Giroud five minutes from time. Wenger spoke to the media after the match and made a huge comment on Olivier Giroud, the French striker.
Giroud celebrating after his wonder goal
When asked about Giroud’s goal, the Arsenal boss revealed that Giroud already had spoken to him during the course of the game that he will score.
Wenger praised Giroud’s mentality and said that the Frenchman’s belief in himself makes him score astonishing goals at tough times. People may not necessarily expect him to score but he always delivers and that is such a good thing to have for a manager.
Wenger was also all in praise for his younger players as Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock were extremely impressive in the match. More than their performance, their mentality and temperament in that extremely daunting atmosphere was something of an indication of the players’ maturity as a player.
