The poor form of the English giants Chelsea continues in the Champions League too as they have settled for a 3-3 draw against the Italian side A. S. Roma at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
Reportedly, a few years ago, the visitors would have craved for a point at Stamford Bridge. But recently, Chelsea have lost two of their last three matches at home. In this match, The Blues have failed to secure a win in spite of having a 2-0 lead within the 37th minute of the game. Chelsea opened their account in the 11th minute of the game following a wonderfully curled shot by the Brazilian David Luiz from outside the box. They increased their lead in the 37th minute of the game following the combination of their forwards including Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard. Morata received a ball at the edge of the Roma box and tried a shot past the goalkeeper. But the ball went deflected on the feet of his partner Eden Hazard and the Belgian did not do any mistake in sending the ball into the back of the net. Within three minutes, the visitors get one back as their left-wing-back Aleksandar Kolarov beat Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta just using pace and his shot was deflected into the back of the net.
In the second half, the Italian side showed great character by taking the lead in a spell of seven minutes in the game, where their forward Edin Dzeko scored a brace on 64th and 70th minute of the game. But within five minutes, the Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard also registered a brace behind his name as the Belgian scored following a wonderful cross by the Spaniard Pedro Rodriguez. With this scoreline, Chelsea and Roma retained at the first and the second places respectively in their group C.
