Italian giants Juventus FC and Inter Milan are ready to consider making a move for Arsenal’s French striker Olivier Giroud.
According to a report by Calcio Mercato, it seems like the Arsenal striker is keen on leaving the Emirates stadium, since falling down the pecking order in Arsene Wenger’s team. The French boss seems to be more impressed by Arsenal’s summer signing Alexander Lacazette, whose recent performances have cost Giroud a place in The Gunners starting lineup.
It was believed that both Juventus and Inter are looking to lure Giroud away from Arsenal either in the upcoming transfer window or in the summer of 2018.
Giroud has scored a total of 100 goals in 237 matches for Arsenal but has been playing back up to Lacazette since his arrival from Olympique de Lyonnais.
It seems unlikely that Giroud will be given a regular chance at the Gunners’ starting XI after the return of Danny Welbeck, who has also been playing a lot regular this season. Arsenal’s star player Alexis Sanchez is also reintroduced in Wenger’s starting XI, which means that chances of Giroud making the starting XI at the Emirates seems very unlikely.
According to the striker himself, it seems that Premier League club Everton FC came really close to signing Giroud over the last transfer window.
However, if either Juventus or Inter does manage to land the striker in Italy then it will be huge for the player himself because it seems like the 31-year-old has just one big career move left.
If Giroud does sign for Inter then he could pair up with Argentine striker Mauro Icardi, who remains as the only notable striker in the Nerazzurri squad. If Giroud is to sign for Juventus then it seems like he is most likely going to replace Croatian striker, Mario Mandzukic, who will probably leave the Old Lady at the end of the season.
Despite all of the speculations, one thing is almost sure that Giroud’s Arsenal days is almost over as it seems like the former Montpellier player will be playing for a new team next season.
