The English Champions Chelsea are set to host the Italian giants A.S. Roma at their home in the Group-C fixture of the Champions League on Wednesday.
Reportedly, both the teams may have some worries ahead of the clash following the upsets in their respective last games. The Blues have tasted an unexpected 2-1 defeat to the last team on the table Crystal Palace, whereas their counterparts “I Giallorossi” have also been defeated to SSC Napoli following a 1-0 scoreline. But in the Champions League, both the teams are in comfortable positions, where the home side are slightly ahead of the visitors.
Antonio Conte’s boys have already secured six points from their first two Champions League fixture, which includes a brilliant 2-1 away victory against the Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, whereas the Italian side are not so far behind, as they also have grabbed four points in their pocket. So, the clash on Wednesday will be crucial for both the teams. A win for Chelsea will push them one step closer to the knock out stage, whereas a win for Roma will strengthen their position in the group.
Chelsea vs Roma Team News:
Chelsea are not expected to make many changes in the team. The injured players including Alvaro Morata and N’Golo Kante will remain unavailable for the match. Although Morata has joined training earlier in this week, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is not expected to risk him playing at the so early stage of the season. The poor form of the Chelsea skipper Gary Cahill may include the former Roma defender Antonio Rudiger or Andreas Christensen in the team. Apart from that, the Italy international Davide Zappacosta will make his place in the starting line up as a replacement of Victor Moses. On the other hand, Roma is expected to line up without making any major changes in the team.
Chelsea vs Roma Possible Line-ups:
For Chelsea, Eden Hazard is the main thread, who can cause damage to any defence in the world. The inclusion of Pedro Rodriguez in the attack and Cesc Fabregas’s long balls are a nightmare to any team indeed. In addition to that, Cesar Azpilicueta and Davide Zappacosta’s crosses can ask some serious questions to the Roma defence. On the other hand, for Roma, their attacking line-up including Edin Dzeko, Stephen El Shaarawy and Alessandro Florenzi are very dreadful. The presence of wingers like Radja Nainggolan and Kevin Strootman provides depths in their attack.
