Main events:

Goals: Mata (3′), Fellaini (35′, 49′), Lukaku (86′).

It took only three minutes for Manchester United to open their accounts in this clash. It was a brilliant display of skills from Rashford on the left hand side and he then set the ball beautifully on the path of Mata. The Spaniard was right on target with a sublime shot and the Red Devils were 1-0 up very early in the game.

Palace, contrary to the popular beliefs, were much better than the previous matches and they tried to push forward to find an equalizer. Cabaye, Townsend and Sako looked lethal on several occasions, but none of the attacks was good enough to beat De Gea. Towards the other end though, at the stroke of 35th minute, there was no mistake from the United attackers. This time, it was an attack from the left hand side once again. Young curled a beautiful ball to the far post and it met an alert Fellaini. The Belgian calmly put the ball past Hennessey to double the lead for his team.

The scoreline of Manchester United vs Crystal Palace remained 2-0 as the two sides went to the break.

The second half started in exactly same fashion as in the first. United got their third goal within four minutes after the break. As Rashford floated in a free-kick from the left hand side, Fellaini rose above the rest and got a nice touch to send the ball home. Soon after the game, Lukaku got an opportunity from yards out, but he failed to keep his nerve and lost the chance to increase his tally. The Belgian wasted another opportunity a few minutes later when he had enough space inside the box. But, this time, his shot went inches wide and the home side could not increase the lead.

Then, ten minutes before the final whistle, two United substitutes Herrera and Martial combined well before the latter took a shot at the Palace goal. But, Hennessey got the better of him and parried the shot away for a corner. However, the custodian could not repeat his heroice six minutes later when the same substitute duo combined again. After a nice pass from Herrera, Martial squared it to the path of Lukaku and the former Everton man made no mistake this time. The final scoreline of Manchester United vs Crystal Palace remained 4-0 and it took United momentarily to the top of the league log.
