It has been reported that Arsenal FC’s star midfielder Mesut Ozil might exit the club soon due to contract disputes at the Emirates.
Reports have suggested that Ozil is currently under the radar of Manchester United.
Much like his teammate Alexis Sanchez, there is a huge possibility that Ozil might also depart from the club. The German international’s contract at the Emirates will expire at the end of the season, and it seems like that Ozil isn’t willing to renew it anytime soon and will be a free agent at the start of next season.
The Mirror has reported that Ozil has had enough playing under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates and now is willing to reunite with his former Real Madrid coach, Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
The German international has received mixed reviews during his Arsenal career. Ozil joined Arsenal back in 2013 from Real Madrid and since then has made 119 appearances for The Gunners.
The Bild has also reported that Mourinho wants to work with the German international. Having worked with him before in Madrid, Mourinho is fully capable of bringing the best out of the former Schalke midfielder.
Ozil has also been linked with Italian giants Inter Milan for a while but Arsenal seems to be confident about the fact that his Inter Milan deal will be off, as of now. Arsene Wenger’s men were looking to swap Ozil for Inter star, Joao Mario in January, but Italian outlet calcliomercato.com has claimed that the Inter has refused to entertain the idea.
Joao Mario himself has been in tremendous form for the Nerazzurri this season, playing the first six matches of the season and registering three assists to his name. Right now, it seems like that Ozil himself wouldn’t want to play for Inter and it is likely that he will ask for huge weekly wages, and has already rejected a £225,000-a-week to stay at Arsenal.
Wenger decided to drop the German international to the bench in Arsenal’s starting XI during their match against West Brom, this past week. Former Arsenal center back, Martin Keown thinks that this is the end for Ozil at Arsenal.
With the Inter deal reportedly off the charts, this could be a huge opening for Manchester United if they are interested in bringing in Ozil at Old Trafford.
