Arsenal’s new adventure in Europa League will take a new test of the Gunners when they will travel to Belarus to face an upbeat BATE Borisov side on Thursday. It will be Arsenal’s first ever trip to Belarus and it promises to be a tricky and interesting encounter.
Arsenal are without Cazorla, Welbeck.
BATE do have some minor injury issues but they are expected to field a strong side.
Arsene Wenger may well be looking to give some of his unused youngsters a chance in the game. Ospina will surely start in goal and the likes of Holding and Mertesacker may come back in defense.
Sanchez is expected to start as well along with Theo Walcott, as both the Chilean and the England International would love to add to their 1 goal tally this season. New signing Alexandre Lacazette, who scored a brace last Monday against West Brom, is expected to make way for his compatriot Olivier Giroud who also is stuck with 99 goals for Arsenal.
Wenger told reporters on Monday, “We play in BATE Borisov on Thursday night and play Sunday morning at 12 o’clock here. So we look at the schedule over the weekend, we think there was some room for us to be different. But we have to accept it and we want to go to Borisov with a team. I will go with a team of senior players and certainly with a young bench.”
BATE on the other side will be banking on their striker Gordeychuk, who has been terrific this season. Midfielder Signevich can also get a start as he scored an important equaliser in BATE’s last game against Crvena Zvezda.
