The 2017-18 English League Cup, also known as Carabao Cup’s 4th round draw was held on 20th September after the completion of the 3rd round fixtures. And the result of the draw has been some interesting fixtures that will be played among the 16 teams that have qualified.
3rd Round Recap:
The 3rd round saw the departure of one of the big boys in the English game. Liverpool were crashed out in the hands of fellow Premier League side Leicester City while all the other big guns advanced to the next round. Arsenal narrowly beat Doncaster, Chelsea cruised past Nottingham Forest and Manchester United also came victorious against Burton Albion. City made a trip to the Hawthorns and prevailed against West Brom.
4th Round Draw:
The draw of the 4th round has resulted the fixtures-
Arsenal vs Norwich City
Bournemouth vs Middlesbrough
Bristol City vs Crystal Palace
Chelsea vs Everton
Leicester City vs Leeds United
Manchester City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Swansea vs Manchester United
Tottenham vs West Ham
- 3 of the last 16 matches will be an all Premier League encounter.
- Only the first and second tier teams now remain in the tournament.
- Tournament top scorer Samuel Salz represents Leeds United, who still are alive in the tournament.
The matches of the 4th round will be played on 24th October and 25th October.
Carabao Cup ties remain single-legged affairs up until the semi-final stage.
In the event of a draw the tie will go to extra time and penalties if required with the competition now adopting the ABBA penalty system.
The final will take place on February 25 at Wembley.
The matches won’t be broadcast in any channels in India as there is no TV rights for the competition in India for the initial stages. In England, the Manchester United and Tottenham fixtures are selected to be telecast on TV.
