Reasons why Liverpool should be wary of their visit to Leicester City this weekend

Leicester City have already defeated Liverpool once, and they will go all out once again.

The host welcomes the Reds at the king Power Stadium for a massive clash at Leicester as both teams square up against each other in a frenetic Premier League contest.

Leicester City defeated Liverpool 2-0 in the midweek’s EFL Cup challenges, courtesy strikes from Shinji Okazaki and Islam Slimani to advance to the next stage of the competition.

However, this tie will be a different ball game as the likes of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino will be making their way back to the first team this weekend. But, despite the return of the duo to Liverpool ranks there are some reasons why the Reds need to be wary of their away trip to King Power Stadium.

Home Advantage for Leicester City:

The host are good in front of their home fans as Chelsea needed a champions’ character and qualities to edge Leicester 1-2 at home in recent weeks. However, the host showed how good and a tough nut to crack they are as they defeated Liverpool 2-0 in midweek. This will surely give them the much needed leverage and level of confidence to surmount the Liverpool challenge when the Reds come, visiting at the King Power Stadium.

With massive home support the former English Champions held firm to win their first ever Premier League title in their history.

Expect the same as the Leicester fans offer a massive encouragement to their players during the course of a game as Liverpool visits.

Absence of Sadio Mane:

The Senegalese forward was dealt a big blow when he was sent off in Liverpool’s 5-0 bashing in the hands of noisy neighbours Manchester City. The Liverpool star collided with the city goalkeeper Ederson in the quest for the ball in the all important clash at the Etihad Stadium. The Senegalese forward was adjured to be guilty of sticking out his right leg in the collision and was banned for three straight games.

This has not been kind for the Liverpool side as it has affected the Reds dynamism in attack as Jurgen Klopp’s men managed a 1-1 draw at home to lowly rated Burnley last weekend.

With a trip to Leicester it might be at all order for Liverpool to live to the billing against a much better Leicester side due to the forward’s absence.

Liverpool fans will hope that Firmino along with Salah and possibly with young star Dominic Solanke will be able to do the damage as Mane will be heavily missed in the match at the King Power Stadium.

Liverpool’s defensive issues:

The Liverpool defense have been a course for concern in recent weeks starting from the new season in the 3-3 draw with Watford at Vicarage road. The defense line further struggled in the heavy defeat to Manchester City (5-0).

Their major clean sheet came against Crystal Palace (1-0) and a troubled Arsenal side (4-0) that was disillusioned with the transfer talks as regards to Sanchez (Alexis) future at the club.

With the hosts’ firepower in the likes of Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho and Riyad Mahrez, the visitors have more than enough to worry defensively than even Mane’s absence as they take to the pitch at King Power Stadium this weekend bearing in mind Islam Slimani’s scorcher of a goal in midweek to make it 2-0 against Liverpool at home in the EFL Cup tie.
