Manchester United to offer midfielder a new contract to fend off interest from Barcelona

Manchester United board is ready to offer Ander Herrera a new contract.


Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is ready to sign a new contract extension in the club before the Summer after exciting Mourinho with his execution.

Herrera came to United Under Louis Van Gaal in 2014 from Bilbao and just has one year left on his present contract.

Mourinho has also earlier expressed that he will offer the midfielder another agreement expansion and now it is trusted that the United board is prepared to offer him another agreement before December and the new contract will mostly offer him a massive pay hike.

The last year’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year has this season just showed up thrice in total seven matches in all competitions, made his only start against Burton yesterday in Carabo Cup. Earlier there were reports that La Liga giants Barcelona are in line for the midfielder to take him away from Old Trafford however, fending off all the interest the midfielder has now reportedly accepted an extension and are glad to be in United and want to bestow his long-haul future to the club.

Mourinho is accepted to be a huge admirer of the Spanish midfielder and views him as a key part of his system.

After their 4-0 win against Everton, Mourinho discussed the 28-year-old’s impact after he entered the game in the 77th moment and Mourinho suggested his effect from the bench was tremendous.

‘I think Ander was important,’ Mourinho said.

‘There was a moment were I felt we did not kill it so we have to make it solid with Ander Herrera. From that moment we controlled the game,’ Mourinho said about Herrera.

‘The second goal went in, then game over. I think the performance was very good, especially in the first 30-35 minute, it was probably our best performance of the season.

‘We pressed them and they did not have a chance to get out, they did not have a shot, it was very impressive.

‘After that, Everton’s good players came out and showed their qualities. They gave us difficulty but I looked behind me on the bench and saw alternatives.’

Manchester United extended their domination this season against Burton in Carabo Cup where they thumped the Championship side 4-1 to continue the ongoing season as an unbeaten team till now.
