Liverpool are currently in a limbo following their last week’s 5-0 hammering against Manchester City. They were supposed to stage a comeback on the Wednesday night Champions League encounter against Sevilla, but numerous missed opportunities and defensive frailty have seen them settle in a 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Liverpool will need to turn things around on Saturday evening when they will host league counterparts, Burnley. The Lancashire outfit has surprised everyone by defeating reigning Premier League Champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the opening weekend.Hitman Chris Wood, the top scorer of Championship last season for Leeds United, has been continuing his goalscoring run in the top tier as well and already netted twice in two league outings. Sam Vokes will be a threat in front of goal and the Reds will have a tough ask to contain these two forwards considering their defensive shambles.

Liverpool vs Burnley Injuries and Suspensions:

Liverpool will be without Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana who are out injured with their respective back and thigh injuries. Sadio Mane is suspended in three domestic outings after being shown a straight Red following his high-footed challenge on Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson in the last gameweek. Philippe Coutinho, however, is back with the team after an eventful transfer window and expected to have his first start of the new campaign against the Clarets.

Sean Dyche will miss his custodian Tom Heaton who was forced to leave the pitch against Crystal Palace following a shoulder discoloration that will keep him out for four months. Nahki Wells, the new signing from Huddersfield Town, had a foot surgery and ruled out for the Anfield clash. Dean Marney, the veteran midfielder is unavailable following his knee surgery. But Burnley will have a major injury boost against Liverpool as midfielder Jeff Hendrick has recovered from his thigh injury and will be available for selection.

Jurgen Klopp, the Reds boss, will rely on their Samba boys Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino against the Clarets. New Zealander hitman Chris Wood, the new signing from Leeds United, will pose threat on the vulnerable Reds back-line alongside Sam Vokes, the Welshman who had a match-winning outing against champions Chelsea in the opening weekend.
