Liverpool are currently in a limbo following their last week’s 5-0 hammering against Manchester City. They were supposed to stage a comeback on the Wednesday night Champions League encounter against Sevilla, but numerous missed opportunities and defensive frailty have seen them settle in a 2-2 draw at Anfield.
Liverpool will need to turn things around on Saturday evening when they will host league counterparts, Burnley. The Lancashire outfit has surprised everyone by defeating reigning Premier League Champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the opening weekend.Hitman Chris Wood, the top scorer of Championship last season for Leeds United, has been continuing his goalscoring run in the top tier as well and already netted twice in two league outings. Sam Vokes will be a threat in front of goal and the Reds will have a tough ask to contain these two forwards considering their defensive shambles.

Liverpool will be without Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana who are out injured with their respective back and thigh injuries. Sadio Mane is suspended in three domestic outings after being shown a straight Red following his high-footed challenge on Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson in the last gameweek. Philippe Coutinho, however, is back with the team after an eventful transfer window and expected to have his first start of the new campaign against the Clarets.

But Burnley will have a major injury boost against Liverpool as midfielder Jeff Hendrick has recovered from his thigh injury and will be available for selection.
