French Sensation shares his opinion on Pep Guardiola – Reports

French sensation Kylian Mbappe has told French outlet L’Equipe that he would love to work with current Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola.

PSG’s latest signing claimed, that he was amazed by the Catalan boss’ approach towards the game, however, it was not enough to convince him to move to the Etihad Stadium and represent The Citizens.

Mbappe, also claimed that he wanted to stay in his nation of France and represent a club from his own country instead.

The player joined Paris Saint Germain on loan, from AS Monaco on deadline day of the summer transfer window. He was represented as a PSG player officially, earlier this week.

Monaco will receive a total of €180 million after a purchase option for the player was taken up by the Parisians, if they avoid relegation from Ligue 1 this term.

Mbappe was being linked numerous top European clubs throughout the summer, including the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid.

The 18-year-old claimed that he had a meeting with Pep Guardiola after the end of last season, in order to discuss a potential move to England, he also added that he enjoyed the conversation very much.

“He’s a coach who lives and breathes Football”

Mbappe also stated that Guardiola is the type of manager who gives the players a desire to play and he is someone who always talks about the game.

Mbappe admits that he likes coaches who talk about the game and nothing else. He then went on to praise his new manager, Unai Emery.

“Coach Emery also talks a lot about the game. I love coaches who only talk about the game because that is what interests us.”

The Monaco number 29 added that Guardiola and Emery are somewhat similar type of managers as they both constantly talk about the game and nothing else around it. He praised both the managers for their passion for the game.

The French star, later added that during his chat with Guardiola, he discussed various tactical setups with the former Barcelona coach and how Guardiola would benefit if he ever got to coach Mbappe in his team.

“When I saw him, we talked tactical setups, the way in which he would use me.”

Mbappe has stated that he did not reject Pep Guardiola but instead he said “no” to Manchester City.

The PSG player then stated the Real Madrid saga during the summer transfer window. He claimed that PSG was a much more likely option, than Real Madrid.

“I felt that in Paris, I was more likely to than in Madrid”.

Mbappe will play only his 42nd match in the Ligue 1, this Saturday when PSG face off against Metz.

The AS Bondy youth player then claimed that it was important for him to stay in his country as he felt that in France he hadn’t enough yet to win the respect of others and believes that he needs to achieve a lot more in order to be considered a great player in his nation.

Mbappe stated:

It was important for me to stay in my country. To do six months and then leave like a thief in the night, that’s not worthy of the greats. Great players win everywhere they go. In France, I didn’t feel I had earned that respect that would make me a great player.
