Arsenal winger Joel Campbell has joined La Liga outfit Real Betis on loan for the season. It is his second spell at the club on loan from Arsenal and Campbell will be eyeing for a better return this time around.
Joel spent the 2016/17 season on loan with Portuguese Primeira Liga side Sporting Lisbon where he made 18 appearances and scored three goals, and this season he returns to Spain with Betis where he spent the 2012-13 season on loan.
He played 33 games for them last time and scored two goals.
Campbell joined Arsenal in 2011 and since then has spent his most of the times out on loan at different clubs, namely Lorient, Betis, Olympiakos, Villareal and Sporting CP.
His best season was with Olympiakos where he scored 11 goals. With Arsenal, the Costa Rican has been decent at times but Wenger may believe that he is not good enough for the first team due to his lack of consistency.
The former Deportivo Saprissa man has featured 40 times for the Gunners and has netted 4 goals in his Arsenal career. There may well still be plans for him at the Emirates but for now he is set to venture his new life in Spain.
Another Arsenal outcast Lucas Perez has also made his move away on loan to another La Liga side, his former club Deportivo La Coruna, just 12 months after joining from the same club to Arsenal.
Life has been frustrating for Perez as he hasn’t got adequate opportunities at Arsenal. He scored 7 goals for the North London side despite having so limited chances, among which was a Champions League hattrick against Swiss outfit Basel.
Perez was also linked with a move to Everton but the Spaniard wanted a return at Riazor to boost his selection chances with Spanish national team.
