Keeping in course with the Italian giants going all out in the summer transfer window, Serie A champions Juventus have signed Blaise Matuidi from Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday.
The French Midfielder had his medical at Turin on Wednesday and is said to have agreed a three year deal in a move that costed The Old Lady just £18m.
The 30-year old had joined the Parisian club from St. Étienne back in 2011 and has been part of 4 Ligue 1 winning side at the Parc des Princes. In 295 appearances for the club he had scored 33 times.
However, he had recently lost favour to the new manager Unai Emery and had featured very few times over the last season. After a mutual agreement, the Toulouse born midfielder was allowed to fly to Juventus for his medical on Wednesday.
It is believed that the French Cup winners are preparing for a mass exodus to generate some amount of transfer revenue to cope up with the world record transfer of Neymar Junior from Barcelona for £200m.
Juventus first broke the news on the social media by posting Matuidi’s photographs holding a scarf bearing the club’s name, title “Just Landed”.
Juventus have been very active in the transfer market this summer and the French international will be their 6th signing*. They have already previously signed Rodrigo Bentancur, Douglas Costa, Wojciech Szczęsny, Mattia De Sciglio and Federico Bernardeschi.
Matuidi has donned the Les Bleus 58 times, scoring 8 goals. He was an integral part of the French national team that went to Brazil for the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and also the Euro Cup runners team on home soil last year.
*Technically Matuidi will be the 10th summer signing including the return from loan of Carlo Pinsoglio from lower division club Latina and permanent transfer of Medhi Benatia, Juan Cuadrado and Dario Del Fabro using the buy permanently clause after their respective loan spells.
