Manchester United will engage the West Ham side that struggled at some point last season prompting pressure on the manager (Slaven Bilic) for his job.

However, thanks to some magnificent performance from the likes of Andy Carroll whose wonder goal aided the side with a win over Swansea and Manuel Lanzini whose winner elevated West Ham but downed title contenders Tottenham Hotspur last season, the team ended on a high note.

Nevertheless, this season is a fresh one as both sides square off at Old Trafford to determine each other’s fortunes in the course of the 90 minutes. The West Ham opposition will surely be a stiff one as United need to be at their best to start the new season with all maximum points.

But in this contest there are players who can stand up for their respective side in the bid to make a difference despite some tactical input and match antics as regards to the game.

Here are four players who can make a difference in the match.

PAUL POGBA:

The French star would be expected to engineer a positive outcome with superb midfield display and exemplary delivery as the game gets underway at Old Trafford.

Pogba was a handful for Barcelona in the pre-season friendly despite a 1-0 loss to the Catalan side thanks to Brazilian star Neymar Jr. that move to French side Paris Saint Germain.

With the addition of Nemanja Matic to bolster the midfield following the Serbian’s move from League Champions Chelsea, Pogba will have enough support and midfield correlation to thrive in the middle of the park as it is expected from the French midfield player against West Ham United.

MANUEL LANZINI:

The West Ham forward was a handful for some sides in the Premier League last team as regards to his flair and attacking incision.

The Argentine will lead the charge for a positive outcome away from home as the West Ham side needs a good result to shelve the memories of bad outing in the past.

Lanzini and Mark Noble in the middle will be enough to threat United even with the midfield class of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and co.

Lanzini made his International Debut in the summer following strings of good performance and naturally will be keen to make a statement in the match as West Ham expects something special from their star man when they visit the Theatre of Dreams.

MARCUS RASHFORD:

Once again United will be calling for the contribution of the talented forward whose presence in the United set up annihilated the absence of star forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic at some point last season.

Rashford might have missed a clear chance to level matters for Manchester United in the 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in midweek but West Ham will be doing themselves a favour by keeping an eye on the youngster to avert danger in their vital area.

Marcus Rashford is a prolific talent that can make the difference just like he did at the Etihad Stadium to give United a 0-1 away win under the tenure of Dutch manager Louis Van Gaal.

JAVIER HERNANDEZ:

The prolific talent will be eyeing a return to Old Trafford with a bang after leaving the club which was becoming like his home under aged manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Hernandez’s eye for goal and acceleration in the box is his major strength and the likes of Phil Jones or any United defender must pay proper attention to the new West Ham recruit.

This will be crucial for the hosts as the Mexican has proven time and again the damage he is capable of doing in a match like this.
