Finishing sixth last year and missing out on a Champions League place for the first time in over a decade, Arsene Wenger will be keen to put the lacklustre performance of last year behind him and push for at least a top 4 finish this time around with Arsenal.
Arsenal have managed to retain most of their squad from last season while also adding Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac to their ranks. Both players are coming off splendid seasons with their respective clubs and will be looking to push on with the 2004 Premier League Champions.

Arsenal’s biggest worry will be their defense and the goalkeeper in particular.
Petr Cech remains the main man between the sticks but his performances last term left a lot to be desired. Their back up goalie David Ospina is also not quite up to the mark yet. Their best bet would have been long gone goalie Wojciech Szczesny but he had sign with Italian Champions Juventus after a stellar campaign with AS Roma.
Arsenal look solid at the back with Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding. The three served brilliantly after the Gunners shifted to their new formation with three at the back. Hector Bellerin would be looking to bounce back after an inconsistent season and will be under a lot of pressure. As for the Left Wing Back position, Nacho Monreal played really well but he may be replaced by Kolasinac this time around. This is the one area where Arsenal look to be the strongest in the league along with Chelsea and Tottenham.
The midfield is studded with talent but once more injuries and consistency will play a huge role. Arsenal have now had a great midfield on paper for many years but the results have just not come. Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka will probably be the starters and can be as good as any when in form. That is where the problem lies as Arsenal are very rarely in sync for an entire season and tend to taper off in the middle of the campaign which has hampered their chances of success for so long now.
Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are the two stars of this team and have delivered trophies to the Emirates ever since they come together. After looking a below par for a long time, the signings of these two stalwarts has transformed the team and catapulted them into Europe’s elite but two players can only do so much without help from their teammates. With new signing Lacazette hungry for goals and success, he could be the guy to partner the duo and help Arsenal to the next level.
Obviously, its still early days and nothing can be certain, but Arsenal need some inspiration fast if they are to improve on last season.
