Chelsea interested to sign England International from Leicester

Chelsea are hoping to seal a deal for Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater, according to various reports. Chelsea manager is keen to make additions to his squad and the recent departure of Nemanja Matic has elevated speculations that a new face in midfield is most likely to arrive at the Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to Telegraph, Chelsea are eyeing a move for the talented Leicester midfielder, who has it all as a midfield player. He is a good passer and may well be the man the Blues need right now, with both Chalobah and Matic departing this summer for Watford and Manchester United respectively.

Drinkwater played a pivotal part in the Foxes league winning fairy tale and also had a test of Champions League last season, where he helped his team to reach the Quarter-Finals. Conte even wanted to sign him last season, but ended up signing Kante. But this year the scenario is different as players have seek pastures new from the London club. There is currently a midfield void in Chelsea and their participation in four competitions means the Italian manager would love to have options available.

According to ESPN, another factor that may be advantageous is that he is English, as Chelsea often are deprived of home grown talents and the club may want one badly. The England international is also wanted across Premier League as Spurs are also interested in him.

Reports also emerge as Sun revealed that Chelsea have cleared the midlands club that they will not offer more than 30 million pounds for the 27 year old. So the business will be done if Leicester ask a fair price according to the London club. Last year, Chelsea signed Kante from the same club for 32 million pounds and they want to remain even in that case for Drinkwater also.
