Arsenal have already seen three of their bids rejected for Monaco star Thomas Lemar, but Wenger is ready to ploy his trade for another French league player, this time it is Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri. The Gunners are monitoring the Ivory Coast international and are interested in him.
Reports around Europe has emerged that the Gunners are considering a bid for the Nice midfielder to compensate the absence of Cazorla. Arsenal are not short in midfield, but they definitely lack quality and consistency in midfield. Santi Cazorla was their midfield mainstay and the Spaniards skill and passing was always pivotal for the North London side. With him injured now, the Gunners may look to bring Seri in, who is skillful and also has a decent eye for passes.
Seri, the Ivorian international was scouted last season by Arsenal and it seems that he has impressed them big time. In fact, the 26 year old has been outstanding with Nice since his move from Portuguese side Pacos Ferreira in 2015. He has scored 10 goals for them in two seasons and was a valuable player for the Ligue 1 side last term, helping his team to finish 3rd in the league table.
But Seri’s move to Arsenal can stutter if Nice qualify for Champions League. Nice play dutch side Ajax today in the 2nd leg of the UEFA Champions League 3rd qualifying round. They will have to topple another team in the play offs to qualify for Champions League group stage and achieving that may be troublesome for the Gunners in luring him at the Emirates.
Arsenal themselves won’t be featuring in the Champions League group stage for the first time after a staggering 18 years of presence. The Premier League heavyweights have already added Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette to their kitty and Arsene Wenger has confirmed that they are active in the transfer market. So a move is a possibility for the Nice star in near future.
