The Premier League champions Chelsea are set to beat the rivals from Merseyside, Liverpool to land the £65m Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The 28-year-old forward has been highly linked with a departure from his present club and was initially speculated with a possible move to the French champions Paris Saint Germain. But later on, the Gabon international has been linked with the two Premier League giants. Now, The Blue side from the West London are supposed to close in on the striker as they are on the verge of offload their star striker Diego Costa.

Reportedly, the striker has scored 40 goals in the last season in Borussia Dortmund colour. After the stunning season, the English giant Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had shown reported interest to bring the player to Anfield. Initially, the race was catalysed with the additional interest from the Chelsea manager Antonio Conte following the speculation representing the possible departure of the Spanish international. But later on, Liverpool’s interest in signing the player has been faded away and as a result, the Blues are now the favourites to land the player at the Bridge.

In the last week, Antonio Conte‘s target list was hampered by Chelsea’s former manager Jose Mourinho as his present club Manchester United snatched The Blues’s top target Romelu Lukaku with a record transfer fee. So, with the departure of Diego Costa, Conte must have to ensure his striking options and there is no surprise that the Italian manager is the only one, who is ready to splash the amount on the highly rated Gabon striker.

So, Chelsea are now looking ahead desperately in negotiating the player with his present club Borussia Dortmund. On the other hand, the German giants have also started looking for the possible replacement of the player and the Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud tops the list.
