The Premier League Champions Chelsea have reportedly announced their first signing of the season as the Germany international defender Antonio Rudiger has officially sealed his move from the Serie A side A.S. Roma.
Although the deal is revealed with an undisclosed fee. But some reports claim that the defender has joined The Blues for a £34 million deal. The 24-year-old has helped his inexperienced German squad to win the Confederations Cup. He also helped his former club A. S. Roma to finish the league in the second position in the league table.
The signing of the potential defender has been registered as the costliest ever defender for the blue side of the West London. Rudiger has signed a five-year-long deal at the Bridge and he is supposed to wear the vacant #2 kit left by the veteran defender Branislav Ivanovic.

The young defender had been linked with the Premier League champions for a long time. Now, following the departure of the Chelsea skipper John Terry, the addition of the 24-year-old youngster will boost Chelsea’s defence ahead of the Champions League 2017-18.

The inclusion of the Confederations Cup winning defender has certainly provided the depth in the Chelsea defence comprising of Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Kurt Zouma in the same position and it will definitely provide a few options to the Chelsea man-in-charge Antonio Conte.
The 24-year-old has explained his happiness after joining the new club. “It’s a great feeling because not every player has the opportunity to join a huge club like this,” he added, “I’m looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and I’m very proud to officially become a Chelsea player.”
