For 15 long years, Bishan Singh Bedi formed a very integral part of India’s spin bowling department. He was even appointed the captain of the team for 22 matches in the interim of his long and glorious career.
His son Angad Bedi, who is a young talent in the Indian film industry has decided to make a film on his father’s cricketing journey. The actor was first seen on the big screen when in 2011 movie titled F.A.L.T.U. but he made a mark with his presence in Amitabh Bachchan starrer Pink which won hearts of people. The youngster is now eager to write as well as direct a documentary on the journey of his father, which had its shares of ups and downs on the 22 yards.
As per Mumbai Mirror, the movie is all set to hit the theatres as early as possible and will tentatively be named ‘Bish’. “I love sports and look up to all the icons our country has produced. Fortunately, I was born to one of them. Now, I want to share his inspiring cricketing journey with everyone. My father has always been opinionated, called a spade a spade, and has dedicatedly worked towards the betterment of the game. I want everyone to know about his passion for it,” Angad said.
The actor also said that the film will explore his father’s journey as a sportsman and throw light on the lesser-known stories of his life. It will bring forth the relationship Bishan Singh Bedi shared with his contemporaries and cricketing legends like Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sunil Gavaskar. The film will also look at the father-son relationship of the Bedis.
Angad also said that the film will show various on-field footages from the cricketer’s career. One can expect another film like Sachin: A Billion Dreams on the cards soon.
