After an incredible Premier League winning campaign in his debut season in England, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is preparing for new challenges and rebuilding his side in order to reestablish themselves in Champions League football.
The ex-Juventus and Azzurri boss has asked his star striker Diego Costa to depart, also midfield general Nemanja Matic is reportedly close to reunite his former boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. Youngster Dominic Solanke has joined Liverpool on a Bosman transfer and Nathan Ake, one of their highly-rated prodigies, is close to return to his former club Bournemouth on a permanent deal.
But the trimming does not stop here! Bertrnard Traore, another top-notch young talent, has now completed a €10 mil move to French heavyweights Olympique Lyon.
The 21-year old Burkina Faso international joined the Blues back in 2013 and was loaned to Eredivisie outfit Vitesse for one and a half year spell. He netted 20 goals in 51 appearances and was promoted to Chelsea first team upon his returning from a successful loan period. The youngster was one of Chelsea’s top performers in a disastrous 2015-16 season as the attacker netted 4 goals in 16 appearances.
He was further loaned to Dutch giants Ajax last year and netted 13 times in 36 appearances in all competitions. He guided them to Europa League final scoring crucial goals during knock out phase and earned loads of applauds for his passing, dribbling and finishing traits.
However, the youngster has now joined Lyon on a five-year deal and might be seen as a replacement of high profile forward Alexandre Lacazette who is close to join the Premier League big guns Arsenal.
Chelsea’s pursuit of their former striker Romelu Lukaku and the arrival of Michy Batshuayi have sent the youngster further down the pecking order. Bertrand Traore, thus, joins the long list of Chelsea players who have struggled to break into their star-studded senior squad in recent years.
