La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have been keeping a close eye on Lyon’s star forward Alexandre Lacazette. Lacazette has been in link over a move to the Spanish capital, as Atleti will try and recruit his services in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Lacazette, himself has been praising Atletico for their brilliant and consistent performance in La Liga and as well as the UEFA Champions League.
The 25 year old striker has been in brilliant form in the Ligue 1 for Lyon this season. He has scored a total of 35 goals and also has 5 assists to his name in the course of 44 games in all competitions helping Lyon reach the Europa League semi finals and also helping them secure fourth spot in the French league.
His contributions to the side has helped Bruno Genesio’s side seal their place in the third qualifying round for next season’s Europa League.
But the French striker is someone who is of Champions League caliber and according to Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas, he would be willing to sanction his departure at the right price.
The club chairman also revealed that Atletico have been chasing Lacazette for the last two years and have tabled a 40 million bid aside, as they wait for the outcome of their appeal against a transfer ban with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Lacazette, who is with contract with Lyon till 2019 has recently admitted that Atleti is “the club of his heart.”
“I like Atletico, they have great players, a great coach, great fans and Antoine [Griezmann] is there”– Lacazette claimed.
But the player has added he will wait to see what happens at the end of the season and will reflect on it. Lacazette also added saying he will wait and see what his agent says and then make a decisive move about his future.
