A week that further opened up the top-4 Premier League chase in an excellent manner, to say the least. A Liverpool loss, a Manchester United win and an Arsenal win healed things for a grand finale ending. Let’s now look at the best players of this week.
David De Gea (Manchester United): The Red Devils stopper kept two clean sheets in the past few days to give them four huge points for the top-4 run. De Gea matched Aguero’s shots with ease as his positioning had been vital to a lot of those saves. On the contrary, against Burnley, he was mostly a spectator.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal): The winger has been utilized as a right wing back by Wenger and as usual, he didn’t let us down. The Englishmen is perhaps the only good thing about Arsenal at the moment, as he is an immensely loved character amongst the fans. Well, with just a year left in his contract, a lot of big clubs will be enquiring his availability.
Garry Cahill (Chelsea): The best thing about Chelsea this season has been their likewise replacements and their depths in their squad. Conte is blessed to have such a deep squad and will be looking for more. Cahill comes in for Ake this week and oh boy, he scores a goal to give the lead.
James Collins (West Ham): The veteran centre-back kept the highest goal scorer in the league at bay and didn’t allow him to squeeze past him. Collins further made sure that they keep a clean sheet against the Toffees and earn a valuable point for their fight from relegation.
Arthur Masuaku (West Ham): Well, Cresswell will find it really hard to get back to the starting lineup once he is fit and ready to go. Arthur Masuaku has been in phenomenal form and his dribbling skills have been key to their attacks from the left. West Ham just hope he continues to perform the way he has been.
Martin De Roon (Middlesborough): The midfielder gave further dismay in the hands of the Sunderland fraternity as they further assured them that they won’t be staying in the top-tier next season.
Ander Herrera (Manchester United): The man behind the team when the team required him the most. This season’s most underrated player for Manchester United set apart from the rest as he controlled the midfield with his sublime passing. He is absolutely Mourinho’s biggest asset and he knows that more than anyone on the pitch.
Cristian Eriksen (Spurs): Eriksen scored the winner and allowed Spurs to dream for some silverware if by any chance Chelsea slips in the Premier League title race.
Eden Hazard (Chelsea): Hazard is the instrument of Chelsea’s music in the Premier League and he has been proving it why he is so important to his side by dominating games with ease. He scored the opening goal against Spurs in the FA Cup this week and continued his dominance in search of the League title.
Cristian Benteke (Crystal Palace): What a week it has been for the ex-Liverpool man as he squeezed two goals past his former team and gave Liverpool a major setback in their run for a top-4 finish.
Diego Costa (Chelsea): Costa came back from his goal-shy selfhood to score two important Premier League goals to keep the four points cushion with Spurs after beating the Saints 4-2 in that game.
