Antoine Griezmann’s advisor has stated to RMC that the Premier League trio of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are all interested in signing the player, as well as Atletico’s La Liga rivals Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have also made enquiries regarding the player’s future at the club.
Griezmann has been on United’s radar for quite some time now and has been the Red Devils’ #1 target in the transfer market.
However, United have suffered a major blow in order to sign the French star as he has said to be hindering on a £89 million move.
The Sun has reported that Mourinho’s side could end up missing on the French outlet because United could miss out on UEFA Champions League qualification for the second season running.
Disappointing home draws against West Bromwich Albion and Everton in the Premier League have put a halt to United’s quest towards the top four as they still find themselves stuck in the sixth position in the league table, four points behind city rivals Manchester City with a game in hand.
Eric Olhats, who first spotted Griezmann’s talent and took him to Real Sociedad has said that there has been no deal with any club.
“There are not 50,000 clubs that can put 100 million on the table, it’s quickly figured out. That’s the price of the clause, they won’t give anything away cheaply. That limits the number of candidates right now”– Olhats stated
Olhats added that champions league qualification is important in order to sign a high profile player such as Griezmann, but United are struggling to do so. He also added that other numerous big teams have checked on into Griezmann’s future, and claims that it is pretty much normal in the world of football.
Olhats also added that French champions Paris Saint-Germain had not made any approach for the player this year, unlike last year when they were also heavily keened in signing the player and bringing him back to his native country of France.
In an interview with RMC earlier in February, Griezmann stated that he was impressed by the “intensity” the Premier League clubs showed but he was definitely not interested in making a switch to England.
