The Red Devils continued their giant stride in this season with a 4-0 demolition of Championship side Reading FC who are third in the Championship league table.

Goals from Captain Wayne Rooney, forward Anthony Martial and Youngster Marcus Rashford earned United a well-deserved 4-0 win at home.

It was a game where the Red Devils were condemned to win and they did just that with some good individual displays in the match.

We highlights the performance of United players as regards to their showings in the game.

GOALKEEPER

SERGIO ROMERO 6.0

The Argentine who was standing in for David De Gea in goal had little to do but did well to block  the imminent danger towards the end of the second period to preserve United’s clean sheet with a challenge against a Reading forward in the match.

DEFENDERS

ASHLEY YOUNG 6.5

The winger cum defender did well in his new role. Asserted himself well in the context delivering vital balls across the face of goal and was good defensively.

CHRIS SMALLING 6.5

The United center back formed a good partnership with Jones at the back and made some timely clearance to shut out Reading FC in the game.

MARCOS ROJO 3.0

The defender had a moderate game early on as he partnered Chris Smalling in defence but had to leave the pitch due to injury early in the 19thminute of the game and to be replaced by defender Phil Jones.

DALEY BLIND 6.5

Confident play from the left back. Great awareness in his position and with some decent link up from the back with some break away passes upfront for Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney in transition.

MIDFIELDERS

MAOURANE FELLAINI 6.0

The Belgian midfield player offered more body for United in central midfield and was competitive throughout the game especially from set play (set-pieces).

MICHAEL CARRICK 7.0

The Veteran midfielder was outstanding in midfield. One of the reason for the Red Devils resurgence this season. Great vision to pick out the run of youngster Marcus Rashford for United’s third goal of the game.

JUAN MATA 6.5

Had a decent game linking up the midfield to the final third in transition but was unlucky not to get on the score sheet after setting himself up in nice positions(even from an off-side) in the game.

ATTACKERS

WAYNE ROONEY 6.0

The Veteran forward did not have the best of game despite getting on the score sheet. Lost possession unnecessary at times and was unconvincing in his final balls and decision making in the game.

ANTHONY MARTIAL 7.0

The French man was direct and full of running in the game. Martial caused a couple of problems for Reading going forward and deservedly got on the score sheet for United second of the match.

MARCUS RASHFORD 7.5

The Youthful forward was full of running in the game. Was a handful for Reading as his dynamic movement along with Martial and Juan Mata was terrific for the opposition (Reading FC).Got a second half brace as a deserved reward for a solid performance in the game.

SUBSTITUTES

PHIL JONES 6.5

Had a good game generally but had a torrid moment with the Reading attacking forays in the game but stood out well in all his challenges.

BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER 3.0

The German came on to shore things up in midfield and did enough to help United see off the game with a 4-0 win.

TIMOTHY FOSU-MENSAH 4.0

The Youthful defender did a good job in the few minutes he featured in the game defensively as Reading threw attacking tantrum in search of a consolatory goal.
