FC Barcelona superstar Neymar has revealed he would love to return to Brazil and mentioned Flamengo as the club whom it would be an honour to play for should he leave the Catalan giants in the future.
Neymar is one of the best players on the planet currently and has scored 136 goals in 200 appearances for the first team previously for Santos. The forward, who put in five years at Santos subsequent to developing through their youth academy has lit up European football since signing for Barcelona in 2013 where he has hit an impressive 91 goals in three-and-a-half seasons.
Talking after the Game of Stars charity match to respect the disaster hit Chapecoense, Neymar told the press: “If I could, I would like to play for Flamengo, it would be a great honour for me to play at the Maracana.”
“I would be playing there [at the Maracana] all day. It’s a club I want to play for,” Neymar added.
Neymar played for 59 minutes in the match, scoring two goals and assisted further two before coming off to a standing ovation. He also gave his boots to a young Flamengo player, who is the son of another famous Brazilian ex-footballer Beto.
Neymar’s another teammate Rafinha shared the same thought of the Superstar who was also present during the match.
“If God wills it, one day I’ll play for Flamengo,” Rafinha said.
Neymar is worshipped at the Santos. The local boys love the Brazilian to their heart’s core and most of the footballer and fans idolises him. So these remarks are highly unlikely could go down well with the Santos fans, who are a strong rival of the mentioned Flamengo. However, the Brazilian has recently signed a new contract in this October and any move to Flamengo won’t arrive for a long time.
