London giants Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has warned Chelsea that his side can be a threat to their title race.
The 23-year-old forward has been very optimistic and he has mentioned that ruling out Spurs from the title race will not be a good option. Moreover, he believes his side can end the winning run of their London rivals Chelsea.
Since the starting of the season, the former Champions of England, Chelsea have been flying high securing the top spot on the Premier League table. The West London giants seem to be even more dreadful following their 12-match winning streak, which can be increased if they manage to win their next game against Stoke City on Saturday.
Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham Hotspur will meet them on 4th January in the midweek fixture. But before that, Spurs will have to take on Watford on Sunday.
Although having a difference of 10 points from the League topper Chelsea, Spurs striker Harry Kane is very confident following their thumping 4-1 victory over Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday. He has also mentioned that the six teams are in the title race this year.
“We are definitely capable of beating Chelsea”, Kane said to the reporters. The English striker has also mentioned they can not afford to lose more points. “We are not going to think like. We are here to try to stop that from happening”, he said.
The Spurs striker is very confident about their performance, “There are six strong teams in the running for the title. We are in the mix and all we can do is win games and see where it takes us.”
Kane has mentioned his team need to register a winning streak within a short period of time and they are very keen to end Chelsea’s winning run also. “We can’t have too many off days. We have put together a good run now. We have won a few in a row and we need to keep winning. Chelsea have won 12 in a row. Hopefully, we can put that run to a stop”, he added.
The 23-year-old striker has said his side will give their best to win the game against Chelsea. But right now, they want to concentrate on their next game against Watford. “We are focused on Watford first – to get another win there – but it is a big game against Chelsea and we don’t want to fall too far behind them. So, whatever happens, we have to try to win that game”, he mentioned.
But Kane has also admitted that despite winning the next games, his side have to wait for the other teams to drop points so that they can reduce the 10 points gap. He said, “We have to try to win every game and hope Chelsea and the teams above us drop points. We are going to keep fighting and pushing until the very end.”
Remembering the previous 2-1 defeat the current league leaders, The Spurs striker has mentioned that Chelsea did their best on that they. But he believes his team can turn the game around in the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane. “They had what it takes to beat us on the day. We need to try to change that at home and use our atmosphere at home. We have been very good at home this season and we have to try to take that confidence into the game”, remarked the English international.
Reportedly, Kane has registered 8 goals in the Premier League this season in 13 appearances.
