Liverpool are plotting a bid to bring Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to the club in the January transfer window, according to reports.
It is also understood that apart from Liverpool, the likes of Manchester City, Southampton and Leicester City are also monitoring his situation.
As indicated by The Guardian, the English footballer is not content with the absence of first-group football at the Emirates and he can turn up for Liverpool in the upcoming window for more playing time. The
Liverpool boss is said to be an admirer of the English winger and could soon make an offer for the youngster as he is looking for extra depth in the squad to sustain a challenge for the Premier League title.
However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly has made it clear that he wants the winger to stay at the club at any cost and sign a new contract at the club to shook off potential suitors.
He has shown up this season only in 23 matches scoring six goals and assisted six others in all competitions but yet to finish a full-match till now and is understood to be unhappy at being regularly substituted.
Earlier in October while talking to Skysports the winger revealed that he is worried about his game-time and but will work hard to place himself in the Arsenal team.
“I would be lying to say it hasn’t crossed my mind that I need more game time. As a footballer, you want to play every game, and I’m not happy when I’m not playing, as is everyone on the bench,” he said.
“There is going to come a time in my career, and I think I’m approaching it, when I do need to get more regular football but my focus is completely and utterly on playing for Arsenal and breaking into the team when I get the opportunity.
He also stated that he will re-evaluate everything after the end of the season and assess everything after the season.
“There comes a time in your career sometimes when you have to re-evaluate and think, ‘Is that going to be here or elsewhere?’
“I will do that at the end of the season and see what is happening.”
Liverpool will be without their star man Sadio Mane for a quite time as he would go to Afcon. In this situation, a move for the Arsenal man could be very much welcomed for the both party as both could benefit from the move.
