CONFIRMED: Chelsea made enquiry for Atlanta midfielder, reveals Agent

Chelsea have made a £21.3million offer for Atlanta star Franck Kessie which has been rejected by Atlanta, according to reports, while other Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester city are also said to be interested in the player.

The Ivory coast international’s agent George Atangana who has reportedly travelled to London for further talks with Chelsea has confirmed the news but also claimed that there are other several clubs behind the 20-year-old.

‘We have a lot of interest from the Premier League – Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal,’ his agent told The Guardian.

Atangana also stated that they are not in a rush to decide the Chelsea target’s future and before any step will look for the better options for the midfielder’s proper development.

‘I cannot say at this stage how much he will cost but we are talking about one of the best young players in the world. But for us the most important thing is that the technical project is the right one for him. Franck is very young so we have to be very careful about his development.

‘Chelsea are very interested and it is a great club but we must take our time to consider all the options.

‘Now we are in January so he has to play at the African Nations Cup for Ivory Coast so I am not going to rush anything.’

The box-to-box midfielder’s performance for the Italian side has impressed everyone this term as Atlanta are only three points off a Champions League spot currently. Kessie has scored an impressive 6 goals and 2 assists in a mere 17 appearances in all competitions this season has attracted interest from all over the Europe.

Earlier in December Kessie also expressed his love for Premier League, however, mentioned that he would love to play for Manchester United instead of Chelsea. It was also rumoured that Jose Mourinho said to have contacted Kessie last month to make a switch to Old Trafford.

“Now I want to learn Italian tactics but in the future, I like the Premier League,” Kessie said to ESPN.

“I’d like to play for Manchester United. I don’t know if [Jose] Mourinho will be there, but Manchester United has always been my favourite team.”

But with Oscar’s departure and Conte’s superb connection with Italian clubs, this move can see the green light if the Blues make him the right offer and convince him of having a playing spot in the current Chelsea team besides other midfielders like Kante, Matic and Fabregas. The Ivory Coast international valued at £34m by his club.
