Transfer: Liverpool midfielder ready to leave the club for Italian Giants

Italian giants Inter Milan has targetted Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva as a January target with reportedly a £4m plus add-ons bid to land the Brazilian.

Inter attempted to sign the Brazilian the previous summer but the move failed and now they have again returned hoping that he might be permitted to leave since he is not playing regularly at Liverpool and Inter allegedly feel that they can entice the Reds into a deal in the January transfer window. New Inter Milan boss Stefano Pioli is set to supervise a January clear-out and is focusing additions to the midfield to bolster his options, as he wants to challenge for the UCL birth.

The Brazilian has regularly been also involved for a move away from the club for the last one year, as many top clubs like Besiktas and Galatasaray were linked with the midfielder for a loan deal. However, it is now understood that the Italian outfit who also have many Brazilians like Miranda, Gabriel Barbosa has been ahead now for the Liverpool man.

Lucas is thought to be a crucial part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad at Anfield however, he has been limited to only three starts in the Premier League and another five appearances off the seat but been included in each of the club’s EFL Cup matches. The Liverpool defensive midfielder has basically been utilised as a make-shift centre-back or drafted into midfield late in matches when the manager just wants to shut the game down.

He moved to Liverpool from Gremio in 2007 and has gone on to make 326 appearances for the Merseyside outfit and currently the most senior ever player in the squad along with Henderson. Klopp reportedly does not want to lose the player now as he believes Lucas can bring the experience which the young squad does not have but at this stage in his career, the Brazilian could not be content with making just irregular appearances from the bench and could soon move away from Liverpool for regular football.
