Chelsea Legend Frank Lampard has picked up his best 5-a-side Chelsea team recently and mentioned some of the best players of the Blues there along with him.
Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has spent a wonderful career in England especially since he joined The Blues back in 2001. During his 14 years long spell at the West London side, the former English midfielder has come across many legends and talented players. Recently the Chelsea legend was asked by his former club to pick up a 5-a-side team consisted of the players he has played with during his career at Chelsea. The task was pretty tough for the midfielder as he has played with lots of big names in international football in his delightful career at the Bridge.
But somehow, the Chelsea icon has managed to pick his 5-a-side Chelsea team and undoubtedly, the side can lead to a definite threat. His selected team consist the following players:
Petr Cech (Goalkeeper): In between the sticks, the former England international has gone for the man he can bid a lot of thanks for saving his team from certain dangers, including the penalty save in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich back in 2012, Petr Cech. “Petr Cech is in goal. He was incredible and we wouldn’t have won the Champions League without him”, said Lampard when he was asked about the selection of Cech over the other nominees.
John Terry (Defender): Who else than the legendary defender can wear the shoes for Super Frank’s team? Lampard had no other choice to think twice than to choose his former international and club colleague John Terry. The defender represents himself as one of the club icons.
Didier Drogba (Striker): Didier Drogba can be marked as one of the greatest nightmares to the defenders he played against. So, the Ivorian is also a threat included in his team. Reportedly, Drogba scored the equaliser in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich back in 2012 and the most important thing is that the striker scored the winning penalty to secure the first ever Champions league title for Chelsea.
“If anyone asks me to name the best players I played with, I’ll say John Terry and Didier Drogba without a doubt, so they are both in”, Lampard said on the selection of John Terry and Didier Drogba in his team.
Frank Lampard (Midfielder): Now the Chelsea legend has included himself in the team. But, undoubtedly, without his selection, the midfielder can easily get himself into his all-time best team for Chelsea. Reportedly, the midfielder is currently all-time highest goal scorer for The Blues following his 211 goals for his former club in his 14-year long career at the West London side.
Eden Hazard (Midfielder): Now, here is the surprise! The former goal scoring machine has gone for the new goal scoring machine for Chelsea. In spite of spending his career alongside such legends like Michael Ballack, Deco, Michael Essien, Claude Makelele and so many, the former English midfielder has preferred the new Belgian skipper over the other nominees.
“If I put myself in there it’s the spine of the team from 2004/05 and beyond, plus I’ll throw in Eden Hazard for the flair. He’s a fantastic player and I love watching him”, he replied to the selection of the Belgium sensation.
At the last, it was the time to pick up the skipper of the awesome team. Hilariously the answer shocked the football fans as he said, “Well, who’s Chelsea’s top scorer of all time?”Photo by Ronnie Macdonald
