The first half of the season is slowly approaching its end, and the Fantasy Premier League managers are getting all geared up to enjoy 30 games within a span of 10 days.

Let us start with a quick look at all the fixtures from this week.

Injury updates:

Everton goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg sustained an injury during the last match and had to be replaced by Joel Robles. The first choice custodian is still not back to his feet, and Robles might start against Leicester City this week. On the other hand, reliable centre back Phil Jagielka might return to the starting lineup for the Toffees. But, Christian Fuchs (LEI) is suspended for one match and will return on 31st December. The only other significant absentees in the back are going to be Shkodran Mustafi, James Tomkins and Nathan Ake. The last one will not be able to take part against his parent club Chelsea, and will return to the starting lineup in the next game. Johnny Evans, Joel Matip and Eric Bailly will probably continue to miss as they are still not fully fit.

The biggest news for the Fantasy Premier League managers this week is probably the unavailability of star striker Diego Costa. Both Costa and his teammate N’Golo Kante will serve one match suspension, due to the fifth yellow card of the season.

On the other hand, Sergio Aguero is nearing the end of his suspension period and will soon return to the squad. Jamie Vardy is suspended for three matches after seeing a red card in the last game. Reports suggest that Philippe Coutinho is back to light training and might be fit to feature in the new year. But, if you still have Ilkay Gundogan, Charlie Austin, Santi Cazorla or Yannick Bolasie, you should sell them as they are suffering from major injuries and are not going to come back anytime soon. All other players must be up and running to get involved in all the actions this week.

Tips and suggestions:

Arsenal are about to enter a period where they will face six easy teams over the next six gameweeks. Naturally, Alexis Sanchez, Laurent Koscielny, Hector Bellerin, Mesut Ozil or Theo Walcott will be in demand. Other than a derby against Liverpool (gameweek 21), Manchester United’s life should also not be much challenging in the next eight gameweeks. However, Jose Mourinho has been rotating his squad for quite some time now. And so, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Antonio Valencia or David De Gea might be the only safe bets from the Red Devils.

Tottenham, Manchester City, Liverpool and high flying Chelsea – all will have on and off difficult fixtures. We would tip you off to buy reliable midfielders or forwards from these teams, and invest little money on the defending options. Players from Crystal Palace, Watford, West Ham or Middlesbrough might come handy in this regard. Particular choices include Joel Ward, Jose Holebas, Winston Reid, Aaron Cresswell, Antonio Barragan or George Friend.

On the other hand, Adam Lallana, Christian Eriksen, Kevin de Bruyne, Eden Hazard or Sadio Mane should be the main men to target. Besides, Costa and Zlatan are the two in form strikers and even with the one match suspension of the former, there is no reason that the Fantasy Premier League managers should part ways with him.

Fantasy Premier League Captain:

One can see that the two Manchester sides, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool – all have easy fixtures this week. Any in form striker or midfielder from these teams would be appropriate for the captain’s spot. Our recommendation will be Zlatan, Hazard or Adam Lallana.
