OGC Nice striker Mario Balotelli could be on the verge of a possible return to the Premier League, as confirmed by the player’s agent Mino Raiola who claims that the Italian international has already “had talks with English clubs.”
The former Liverpool FC striker joined Ligue 1 outfit Nice in 2016, after playing on loan for AC Milan earlier in the year. Balotelli has once again rediscovered his form scoring 8 goals in 9 matches already this season for Les Aiglons.
But the former Manchester City striker has also been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons as well. The Italian possesses a unique stat this season, that is Balotelli has scored, been booked or sent off in every match he has played for Nice this season. The 26 year old was once again centre of controversy this week when he lashed out and kicked Bordeaux defender Igor Lewczuk and earned himself a straight red card in the process on Wednesday night, but that was not it, as Balotelli was going off the pitch he handed his shirt to a fan and then shoved the camera as he was entering the tunnel.
Mario’s agent Raiola told talkSPORT that English clubs are definitely interested in signing the controversial striker. He stated that the player has had talks with several English clubs but it’s still early days to come to a conclusion.
Raiola said: “For Mario I always knew it [goals] will come. He was in his last year at Liverpool and he was very stable and not so emotional anymore.”
Raiola also added that Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp should’ve given Balotelli a fair chance to prove what the striker is capable of, but there is no doubt that the former Inter Milan striker is proving to himself more than others about his capabilities after getting his Nice career to a brilliant start.
Mario also says that he has no interest of returning to Anfield but would like to join his former team Manchester City once again and also expressing his like to play under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal FC.
Earlier in the year Balotelli said: “If I go back to England for sure not Liverpool.”
However, he did say that Liverpool FC has a good team and amazing fans but claims to be performing bad when playing for the Merseyside club.
OGC Nice are currently at top of Ligue 1 with AS Monaco and Paris Saint Germain also in hunt for the top position. But let us not forget that Balotelli is always at his best when he is at his most controversial, and if he keeps on scoring goals in regular basis for Nice then Lucian Favre’s men might as well be the surprise package this year and win the French Ligue.
