Transfer: Liverpool enters the race for Arsenal and PSG target

Liverpool are ready to compete with Arsenal and PSG for the signature of the want-away Wolfsburg midfielder Julian Draxler.

Draxler has been forcing for a move far from the Volkswagen Arena since the Summer and is said to have seen a transfer request declined by the Bundesliga outfit.

But now after leaving out the midfielder of Wolfsburg’s match day squad after the match against Hertha Berlin as well as negative responses by the fans, the Club has decided to sell the player with PSG linked mostly.

The world cup winner has recently confirmed he is in talks over a transfer away from Wolfsburg and said to Bild in an interview: “I am in talks with a couple of clubs, but so far no decision has been made. We will all sit down and make a sensible decision that is suitable for us.”

The French side were mostly in the front seats expecting a £34million deal wrapped up for the World Cup champion when the January transfer window will open, while Arsenal are long-term suitors after he revealed he was leaving his Bundesliga club.

But as indicated by the Times’ Paul Joyce Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp has also entered the race and is ready to test the midfielder with an offer. The report expresses that Klopp is looking to bolster his attacking choices and has targetted Draxler as a valuable option. Klopp wants to reinforce his attack, with Sadio Mane departing for the Africa Cup of Nations in January and Draxler can be the perfect replacement for the Senegal international.

However, the issue for Liverpool may be the price they need to pay. Draxler just joined Wolfsburg last season from Schalke in a £30 million deal, marking a 5-year contract and nothing more than £30 million will trigger the Bundesliga club. But if the Liverpool boss does make the deal happen for Draxler, the Germany international would certainly be worth the money and could provide Liverpool a cutting edge for their maiden Premier League title this season that’s for sure.
