Romelu Lukaku is likely to extend his contract with Everton, according to his agent Mino Raiola. He said that Lukaku’s deal with Everton is 99.9 percent done and the forward will extend his stay at the Merseyside as it seems.
The 23 year old forward will be Everton’s first £100,000-plus-a-week player. The Belgian attacker’s current deal expires in 2019 and a lot of clubs are reportedly after him.
“With Everton, we have 99.9 per cent reached terms,” Raiola told talkSPORT. “We are talking to the club in a good spirit so we are very hopeful. There are no problems on the way that I foresee.”
Lukaku joined Everton from Chelsea in 2014 and so far has been instrumental for them. He has been their main man since then and has scored 70 goals. The 23 year old was speculated to move last summer but Toffees managed to fend off all the interests and commit him to work under new boss Ronald Koeman.
However, there is likely to be interest in the Belgium international at the end of this season and Raiola gave no assurances the outcome would be the same.
“If Romelu is good enough, strong enough, to move in the next year then we will talk to Everton about it,” he added. He also praised the current state of Everton and said that they are an ambitious club who may well be aiming for a Premier League title fight in the coming years.
“In football, you can’t look too much in front. You need to take it one transfer window at a time.
“For now, we are agreeing terms and then we will see in the summer what happens and how the situation is.”
Raiola was clear that if both parties agree for a move in future, it may well be a possibility, but at the moment the focus for Lukaku is to concentrate and do well for Everton.
