Top 10 dream Interpromotional matches that should happen in WWE

Dream Interpromotional matches have always been a huge part of WWE.

Dream Interpromotional matches have always been a huge part of wrestling. During WWE’s attitude era fans witnessed numerous dream matches between the WWF and WCW roster, part of the Monday night wars. Fast forward 18 years later fans are still hoping to see some of the biggest names in the wrestling world to show up in WWE for ‘One Dream Match’.

In recent years fans got to witness NJPW Legend Jushin Liger Thunder make a special appearance at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn in 2015 to wrestle Tyler Breeze. We’ve also seen Indy stars such as Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa signing for NXT and even recently winning the NXT Tag Titles. NJPW’s ‘Big 4’ AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows also jump ship to sign for WWE this year.

There are still many dream interpromotional matches fans would love to see in WWE, especially in Wresltemania. Thus here are Top 10 dream Interpromotional matches that needs to happen in WWE.

No.10: Sami Zayn (WWE) vs Cesaro (WWE) vs Neville (WWE) vs Marty Scurll (ROH) vs Will Ospreay (NJPW) vs Ricochet (NJPW) vs Johnny Mundo (LU)

This match will be off the charts, a dream match with some of the best high flying wrestlers from around the globe. A 7 man Intercontinental ladder match at Wresltemania will be the best stipulation for these 7 talented men. With the likes of Mundo, Ospreay, Neville and Richochet expect some crazy high flying ladder spots.

No.9: American Alpha (WWE) vs Motor City Machine Guns (ROH)

Two of the best tag teams in the world right now. American Alpha are highly talented are former NXT Tag Team Champions, with Chad Gable being a former Olympian, participating in the 2012 London Olympics, and his partner Jason Jordan is also a 3 time National level qualifier for NCAA at the Division I level. On the other hand we have Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, The Motor City Machine Guns, MCMG are one of the most loved and popular tag team’s on the planet right now. Shelley and Sabin have been impressive since their TNA days, and are also two of the best singles performers.

No. 8: Asuka (NXT) vs Candice LeRae (PWG)

Since the call up of Bayley, Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Becky, Alexa and Emma to the main roster, the Women’s division in NXT needs a rebuilding. With Asuka being a dominant champion and having no real competition other than Ember Moon, who still needs time to build herself up, the NXT Women’s division definitely would benefit by signing Candice LeRae. Candice, who is married to NXT star Johnny Gargano, is one of the best female indy wrestler’s right now and prove to be a real competition for Asuka, LeRae also regularly features in intergender matches and has even won the PWG Tag Titles with Joey Ryan. A match with Asuka will be a dream come true.

No. 7: The Elite (NJPW) vs The New Day (WWE)

The New Day and The Elite are having some sort of a social media feud. Both the stables have been taking shots at each other back and forth on social media and via interviews as well. Elite and Bullet Club leader, Kenny Omega even challenged The New Day to match during an interview and it seems like the best move will be if the two groups settle their differences in an Interpromotional match. The New Day are currently the WWE Tag champions for more than 400 days now, meanwhile The Young Bucks are current PWG, ROH and IWGP Jr. Tag Team Champions. With Matt & Nick and Woods & Kofi in the match, expect some comedy but high flying action as well and definitely a few superkicks. If Jushin Liger can show up, then so can The Elite.

No.6: Shinsuke Nakamura (WWE) vs Pentagon Jr. (AAA)

This match would be hard hitting and aggressive. Pentagon Jr. and Nakamura are two of the top competitors in the world today, and with both men being in their 30s this match will be a treat for the fans.

No.5:  Kevin Owens (WWE) vs Tetsuya Naito (NJPW)

Two of the most popular heel’s in the world right now, Naito and Owens both had very successful 2016. Owens won the IC Title earlier this year and is the current and longest reigning Universal champion. Meanwhile, LIJ leader Naito won the IWGP Heavyweight Title beating Okada, Naito is all set to defend the IWGP IC Title against Tanahashi at WK 11 but a match against KO will certainly be a great.

No.4: Hiroshi Tanahashi (NJPW) vs Seth Rollins (WWE)

The Ace vs The Man. If Tanahashi was 10 years younger then this bout would’ve been a 5 star classic, but there’s no doubt that even at the age of 40 Tanahashi remains one of the best wrestler’s on the planet and a match against 2 time WWE World champ Seth Rollins would be a thing of beauty to watch.

No.3: Sasha Banks vs Bayley vs Sexy Star vs Io Shirai

Sasha Banks and Bayley have tremendous in ring chemistry, as a matter of fact these two women built the Women’s revolution in NXT and a match between the former horsewomen is always a treat for the fans; adding two of the most talented women in Sexy Star and Io Shirai would make it a dream fatal 4 way match. Lucha Underground’s Sexy Star has won numerous titles all over Mexico in promotions such as AAA, FILL and recently also won the prestigious Lucha Underground title. On the other hand we have Io Shirai who is on a league of her own right now, Io is one of the best Women’s wrestler right now and has plenty of achievements at Wonder World Ring Stardom, where she also became the inaugural SWA World champion. A fatal 4 way between these 3 will be really great and take Women’s wrestling to a new level.

No.2: Kazuchika Okada vs Samoa Joe

Joe vs Okada will certainly be a dream match come true for many fans. Fans can almost certainly expect this match to be stiff and hard hitting. Okada is a 4 time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and has faced the likes of AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and Hiroshi Tanahashi, on the other hand Joe has also faced AJ and Nakamura and likes of Kurt Angle, CM Punk, and Sting. Both men have plenty of experience so expect this match to be a great one.

No.1: Naomichi Marufuji vs AJ Styles

AJ Styles has wrestled all over the world for many Global companies as well as many Indy promotions and has faced many talented men such as Okada, Kurt Angle, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Katsuyori Shibata, John Cena, Shinsuke Nakamura, Chris Jericho, Samoa Joe, Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, CM Punk and many other indy stars such as Will Ospreay, Ricochet, Marty Scurll etc. but there is certain star AJ hasn’t faced, that is Pro Wrestling Noah’s Naomichi Marufuji. Marufuji is one of NOAH’s and Japan’s biggest star’s, he is a 3 time GHC Heavyweight Champion, 1 time GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion, 4 GHC Tag Team Champion and has also won numerous many titles at NOAH. Marufuji is a hard hitting, strong style wrestler who is also very athletic and there is no doubt how talented AJ Styles is, so a match against one of NOAH’s best is what’s left for AJ to accomplish and we’re pretty sure that this bout will also be phenomenal as well.
