Transfer Rumors : West Ham planning a move for talented Chelsea youngster

Out of favour Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is attracting attention from West Ham.

According to the reports, the Premier League side West Ham United is looking forward to land the out of favor frustrated Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Belgian joined The Blues in the summer transfer window from the French side Marseille for £33 million transfer fee. But the signing has been proved to be wrong for the former Marseille striker as he has been struggling a lot to make his place in the starting XI so far in this season because of the stunning form of the Chelsea’s first choice Diego Costa. Reportedly, the player has held his decisions over his future in this club. The Hammers are trying to grab the opportunity and they are keen to provide the outcast striker an escape route.

The Hammers management is expected to bid goodbye to the Italian international Simone Zaza as the striker has failed to meet his expectations so far in this season for his club. Michy Batshuayi can be the perfect replacement for the West Ham man in charge Slaven Bilic, as expected by the pundits.

Since joining the West London side, the 23 year old striker has featured for only 78 minutes so far this season, and he is yet to start any game. Reportedly, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has assured that the striker is a part of long term planing, but he has to be patient for his opportunities in the starting XI.

Although West Ham will definitely be continuing to work on their planing so that they can reach an agreement with the striker. But, if the deal happens, Chelsea have to get themselves busy in the transfer window again to look for another back up striker.

However, whether the deal comes in reality or not, the Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has stated his opinion regarding this speculation saying that the striker is not good enough to replace the Chelsea’s on fire striker Diego Costa and he must stay at Chelsea to provide the back up option if Costa receives any injury further.

“I would look for cover up front. Unlike Costa, Michy Batshuayi doesn’t look the most intelligent of forwards. If Costa gets injured for the rest of the season, you would struggle to see how they would win the league given their back-up options”, Redknapp has said to the reporters.

Chelsea’s first choice striker Diego Costa has been suspended for their next game against Bournemouth on the Boxing day as the striker received booking for the fifth time in this season on the last Saturday against Crystal Palace where his team secured a hard fought 1-0 victory. The Spaniard registered his 13th goal of the season in that match. So, now the out of favor striker Batshuayi will be looking forward to prove his worth in the team as the striker will now make his way to the first team in absence of Costa.
