Semedo was graduated from Benfica’s reserve team a year ago, however, spent a long spell on the sidelines with a knee harm last year. And now this season, Nelson Semedo is one of just two Benfica players who has not missed a single game, and his brilliant performance has led the team at the top of the Portuguese League, advancement to the knockout phases of the Champions League and securing a round of 16 spots in the Portuguese Cup.
The young fullback has made 13 appearances for Benfica in the Portuguese Primeira Liga this season and has participated in all six of their Uefa Champions League group stage fixtures. The Portugues also recently got a call from his National him at the Euro 2016 qualifier against Serbia in October 2015 where he played the full match.
The Lisbon-born defender still has four years left on his contract at the Portuguese giant and it is likewise claimed that his present contract incorporates a minimum release clause of £50million.
However, neither of those factors is by all accounts hindering the Manchester United boss’s interest.
Mourinho’s only preferable first team right-back option Valencia is currently 31 years old and other one Darmian, has tipped to leave the club and often been played as a left-back in this season.
The Manchester United manager is not happy with his full-back options available and wants to rebuild his leaky defence and reportedly is already plotting a summer swoop for Semedo. And a move like his in all probability could happen in future, as money is not a problem for a club like Manchester United or Mourinho.
