Manchester United star Ashley Young could be on his way out of Old Trafford in January and as many as four Premier League clubs are trailing for his signature.
According to a report by ESPN, the Manchester United winger Ashley Young is a transfer target for Everton, West Bromwich Albion, Watford and Swansea.
The report also insists that Young is happy at Manchester United, but the 31-year-old is out of support at Old Trafford and would be enticed to depart in the event that he was told he could leave and there was an offer of regular first-team football elsewhere.
Relegation battler Swansea are monitoring Young’s situation with a view to bringing him to the Liberty Stadium in the next transfer window with Everton, West Brom and his former club Watford also reported to be interested in signing the versatile winger as all are looking at potential top-half finishes and a experinced player like Young could add ranks to their chances.
Young has shown up only eight times this season, 235 minutes of playing time out of a possible 1260, only two as a starter and two as substitute appearances in the Premier League. Young’s last appearance came in the 3-1 win at Swansea a month back where he got a full match time added to his belt.
The former Aston Villa man is a winger by position but has to a great extent been utilised as a full-back in the course of the last two seasons.
Young’s current deal is set to expire in 2018 and the winger is unlikely to be handed a new deal by Manchester United.
Manchester United manager Mourinho wants to reshuffle his squad in January and could take advantage of Young and others to raise money for new signings, with Morgan Schneiderlin, Matteo Darmian, Sam Johnstone, Marouane Fellaini, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Daley Blind and Young could all be on their way out of Old Trafford.
